The Role

We are looking for a Senior Associate to expand our clean fuels product at Sightline Climate. This role includes creating proprietary datasets, writing insightful market commentary, building forecasts and economic models, and producing in-depth analysis that helps shape the transition landscape.

  • Conduct in-depth research across our clean fuels practice, focusing on the commercialization of novel clean fuels, as well as trends in existing biofuels markets.

  • Produce models and tools to help our clients understand the risks, economics, and trends in clean fuel production and demand.

  • Develop differentiated proprietary rankings and datasets that highlight the companies and regions leading the industry in key metrics.

  • Analyze large datasets across sector investment, project deployment, economics, business models, and demand.

  • Convert complex data and research findings into actionable frameworks and insights for a range of audiences, including financiers, corporate strategists, and , policymakers.

  • Engage with and present to external stakeholders, offering thought leadership and reinforcing and expanding Sightline Climate’s position as the go-to source on actionable intelligence across the transition economy.

  • Become Sightline Climate’s expert in clean fuels supply, demand, and economics, making connections between fuel market trends and those in the wider climate tech industry.

  • Help shape our pipeline of research and tools to ensure that our research stays ahead of the curve.

The Essentials

  • 5-7 years experience in creating market research on clean fuels, including RNG and RD, SAF, hydrogen, ethanol, methanol, and/or ammonia.

  • Experience in building economic models and forecasts for fuel production from existing and novel technologies.

  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on detail and accuracy.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting complex data to senior audiences in a comprehensible manner.

  • Ability to quickly produce insightful analysis, in addition to being able to project manage larger research initiatives

  • Innately curious and passionate about climate tech innovation.

  • Eager to explore and understand the commercial and economic implications of new technologies and sources of demand

A Plus

  • A Master's Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Physics, Environment / Climate, or other Sciences

  • Experience in fuel project development, finance, or at an oil and gas major

  • Additional data analysis skills / experience in Excel, SQL, or Python
