Retail Technology: Systems Engineer, Sweetgreen Restaurant Technology
Sweetgreen is seeking a Retail Technology: Systems Engineer to help us shape the future of food by; designing, implementing, managing, and continuously improving the technological infrastructure used in our Sweetgreen owned & operated retail stores. This role is for a person with a Engineering growth mindset who has technology experience in restaurant & retail devices & platforms (e.g. Point-of-Sales, Card Readers, Kitchen Display Units etc..).
ABOUT THE JOB
Key responsibilities and day-to-day activities include:
- Implement, upgrade, manage and support sweetgreen restaurants and online environments including all hardware, software, network and 3rd party integrations - this includes testing and evaluating new hardware and building and maintaining up-to-date Gold Images / Configurations in Intune.
- Work cross-functionally with Operations, Marketing, Ecomm (aka Digital), and 3rd party partners to capture, track and implement restaurant facing bug fixes and software enhancements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key restaurant vendor partners. Serve as the main point of contact for vendor inquiries and issues. Conduct regular performance reviews of vendors to ensure they meet or exceed expectations.
- Make certain all restaurant systems are consistently performing to fulfill current and future needs in a secure and compliant manner that drives operational efficiencies.
- Monitor systems, respond to and resolve incidents, detect incident patterns, identify resolution opportunities, perform maintenance and support, and provide periodic reporting on the digital platform.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to prepare for supporting new features/products, provide feedback on patterns observed in production environments, periodic interface with Tier 1 support teams to collect problem management opportunities and feeding those to appropriate backlogs. You will leverage your support experience to instill best practices and standards amongst the team in terms of process, tools and technology.
- Provide troubleshooting and operations support, and innovate to automate operational tasks
- Develop runbooks/knowledge repositories/other relevant documentation used by Tier 1 support or other Support Engineers
- Serve as the restaurant systems subject matter expert when interacting with other departments, groups, and individuals on relevant restaurant system concerns, projects, and initiatives.
The following qualifications, skills, experiences and abilities will help you be successful in this role:
- Experience with enterprise level support (including supporting online ordering and 3rd party marketplace orders) in a multi-brand restaurant company.
- Knowledgeable in scripting languages, PowerShell, Bash
- Demonstrated knowledge of device / end-point configuration, software installation, and security patching
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with monitoring tools like DataDog and Splunk
- Solid knowledge and experience with Microsoft Intune
- Experience with Python, .NET, and C#
- Working knowledge of desktops, printers, networking devices, mobile devices, and POS hardware.
- Show strong analytical problem solving and decision-making skills
- Communicate effectively, both technically and generally
- Excellent time management and teamwork skills
- Ability to manage and develop relationships with internal departments and outside vendors
- Ability to keep up with industry IT standards and present technology trends
- Knowledge of PCI security standards
