The Team: Cvent Development Framework (CDF)

The Cvent Development Framework (CDF) sits within Platform Engineering and provides core web application frameworks, components, and tooling that product teams use to build planner‑side experiences. CDF owns:

  • Shared frameworks and libraries used across Cvent applications
  • Cross‑cutting platform components and APIs (e.g., navigation, environments, analytics, app configuration)
  • Tooling, documentation, and “paved‑road” patterns that help teams build, test, and deploy reliably

CDF operates as a global organization, with teams spanning India and other regions.

In This Role, You Will:

Manage a CDF sprint team responsible for core framework and platform capabilities used by many Cvent product teams. This role combines people leadership, technical project management, and hands‑on platform work.
As part of onboarding, you are expected to operate primarily as an individual contributor for your first ~6 months—designing, building, and operating CDF frameworks and services. This ramp period deepens your domain understanding, strengthens collaboration with the Architect/Tech Leads, and builds credibility with the team before you shift into a heavier management mix.
You will be accountable for team performance, predictable delivery, and the professional growth of your direct reports, while ensuring CDF gives downstream teams a fast, safe “paved road” for building planner‑side experiences.

People & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers across India and rest of the world (ROW), fostering autonomy, ownership, and high trust
  • Set clear goals and expectations; run regular 1:1s; provide timely feedback with no review surprises
  • Support onboarding, training, and career development plans aligned to DF competencies

Technical & Delivery Leadership

  • Partner with Architects/Tech Leads to design scalable, secure, and resilient CDF frameworks and services
  • Guide technical direction across a modern stack that may include TypeScript/JavaScript, React, Next.js, GraphQL/REST, Java/Node.js, AWS, CDK, and monorepo tooling (Nrwl/Nx)
  • Own roadmap execution for your area: define epics, scope work, set milestones, manage risks, and deliver on a predictable cadence
  • Champion high standards for design reviews, code reviews, automated testing, observability, and documentation
  • Continuously improve CI/CD workflows and developer experience for both your team and CDF consumers

Cross‑Team Collaboration

  • Partner with Product, UX, and downstream engineering teams to understand needs and ensure CDF capabilities enable them to move faster with confidence
  • Coordinate with other Platform and Frameworks teams to align on standards, patterns, and ownership boundaries
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders about priorities, trade‑offs, timelines, and risks; raise issues proactively with solution options

Here's What You Need:

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years professional software development experience as an individual contributor
  • 4+ years experience leading or managing software engineering teams (people management and/or leading teams)
  • Strong hands‑on background with JavaScript/TypeScript and at least one backend language such as Java or Node.js
  • Experience building and operating platforms, frameworks, or shared services used by multiple product teams
  • Proven ability to deliver software in an agile environment while balancing speed, quality, and long‑term maintainability
  • Experience working with distributed teams and strong written and spoken communication skills in English
  • Experience designing or integrating AI agents into engineering workflows or developer platforms (e.g., code‑review agents, CI/CD copilots, internal support/chat agents)
  • Fluency using AI tools (coding assistants, documentation/search copilots, prompt‑based automation) to improve engineering productivity and team workflows

Preferred

  • Experience with AWS or another major cloud provider, including infrastructure as code (e.g., CDK) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Familiarity with monorepo tooling (e.g., Nx) and modern build/test tooling for large TypeScript/JavaScript codebases
  • Background in Platform Engineering, Developer Experience, or Frameworks roles in an internal platform context
  • Comfortable presenting technical concepts, trade‑offs, and roadmaps to senior stakeholders and cross‑functional partners
