About the Role

SkySafe is seeking a Project Manager to serve as the primary interface with our Federal customer. This role will be responsible for managing project timelines, deliverables, and collateral across both internal engineering teams and external Federal stakeholders. You will ensure that programs stay on track, communication flows smoothly between all parties, and that SkySafe consistently meets its contractual obligations.

This is a highly collaborative role that requires strong organizational skills, clear communication, and the ability to navigate the unique dynamics of Federal contracting. You will work alongside engineering, security, and leadership teams to coordinate deliverables, manage schedules, track risks, and provide regular status updates to customer and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact and relationship manager for SkySafe’s Federal customer
  • Manage project timelines, milestones, and deliverables across internal and Federal teams
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, status reports, and program documentation
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities between engineering, DevOps, security, and leadership to ensure alignment on program objectives
  • Prepare and manage program collateral including presentations, progress reports, risk registers, and meeting agendas
  • Facilitate regular program reviews, stand-ups, and stakeholder meetings with both internal teams and Federal counterparts
  • Track and manage program risks, issues, and action items, driving resolution and escalating as needed
  • Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, reporting cadences, and Federal program milestones
  • Support proposal development, contract modifications, and other program management activities as needed
  • Maintain clear and organized documentation of all program communications, decisions, and deliverables

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in project or program management, with at least 2 years supporting Federal or defense contracts
  • Strong understanding of Federal contracting processes, deliverable management, and stakeholder communication
  • Proven ability to manage complex project schedules with multiple dependencies across technical and non-technical teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for both technical and executive audiences
  • Experience creating and managing program artifacts such as Integrated Master Schedules (IMS), status reports, risk registers, and action item trackers
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams and priorities
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as Jira, Asana, Microsoft Project, or similar
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive relationships with Federal customers and stakeholders
  • Self-directed and comfortable working in a fast-paced, remote team environment

Nice-to-Have

  • PMP, PgMP, or similar project management certification
  • Experience supporting programs subject to NIST 800-171, NIST 800-53, or ATO processes
  • Familiarity with SOC 2 compliance efforts in a supporting or coordination capacity
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies in a Federal program context
  • Experience working with SaaS or cloud-based technology products
  • Background in defense, aerospace, or national security programs
  • Experience supporting proposal development or contract modifications (CDRLs, SOWs, etc.)

Within 1 Month, You Will

  • Complete onboarding and gain a deep understanding of SkySafe’s platform, customers, and Federal program landscape
  • Build relationships with internal teams and key Federal stakeholders
  • Become familiar with active program schedules, deliverables, and reporting requirements

Within 3 Months, You Will

  • Take ownership of program tracking, reporting, and stakeholder communications
  • Lead regular status meetings and ensure alignment across internal and external teams
  • Begin identifying risks, dependencies, and process improvements to enhance program execution

Within 6 Months, You Will

  • Fully manage program timelines, deliverables, and reporting cadences independently
  • Drive cross-functional coordination to ensure successful delivery of key milestones
  • Implement improvements to program management processes, documentation, and communication flows

Within 12 Months, You Will

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to both internal leadership and Federal stakeholders
  • Lead complex program initiatives and ensure consistent delivery against contractual objectives
  • Contribute to strategic planning, proposal efforts, and future program growth
  • Help shape best practices for program management across SkySafe

This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. Compensation range $130,000–$170,000

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry. Salary is just one part of our total compensation package that includes equity, perks & benefits, and development opportunities at SkySafe. Individual pay decisions are based on several factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, geography, and balancing internal equity relative to other SkySafers.
