About the Role

SkySafe is seeking a highly experienced Senior DevSecOps Engineer to design, secure, and scale the infrastructure powering our drone detection platform. This role is critical to ensuring our systems are resilient, highly available, and compliant with the stringent requirements of government and regulated environments, including SOC2 and federal deployments.

In this role, you will own infrastructure end-to-end—from architecture and automation to monitoring, security hardening, and operational reliability. You’ll collaborate closely with software engineers, security teams, and leadership to build systems that are not only scalable and performant, but also secure and compliant. Your work will directly enable SkySafe to deliver reliable, real-time airspace intelligence to customers operating in mission-critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable and secure cloud infrastructure supporting SkySafe’s SaaS platform
  • Build and maintain infrastructure automation using Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or similar
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable safe, reliable, and repeatable deployments
  • Ensure infrastructure and operational practices align with SOC2 and government security requirements
  • Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems for production infrastructure
  • Improve system reliability, observability, and performance across the platform
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to design infrastructure that supports new services and features
  • Manage secrets, identity, and access controls using industry best practices
  • Help define operational standards and DevOps processes across the engineering organization
  • Support incident response and root-cause analysis for production issues

Required Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years of experience working in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or infrastructure engineering roles
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS
  • Experience managing infrastructure in SOC2-compliant or government-regulated environments
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar)
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
  • Strong knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, etc.)
  • Experience implementing monitoring and observability solutions (Prometheus, Datadog, CloudWatch, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of networking, security controls, and identity/access management
  • Experience supporting production systems with high availability and reliability requirements
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience deploying systems within government or defense environments (GovCloud, FedRAMP, IL-level environments, etc.)
  • Experience with security compliance frameworks such as SOC2, FedRAMP, or NIST 800-171/NIST 800-53
  • Experience building secure multi-tenant SaaS infrastructure
  • Experience supporting high-throughput data pipelines or streaming systems

Personal Qualities

  • Self-motivated and proactive with a passion for learning and improving your craft
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; comfortable working in a team environment with other remote employees
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting

Within 1 Month, You Will

  • Complete onboarding and gain a deep understanding of SkySafe’s platform, infrastructure, and mission
  • Learn how your role supports compliance, security, and operational excellence
  • Review current infrastructure, tooling, and deployment workflows

Within 3 Months, You Will

  • Contribute to infrastructure improvements and automation initiatives

  • Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure design for new features

Within 6 Months, You Will

  • Lead the implementation of key infrastructure components or improvements
  • Strengthen system observability, reliability, and security posture
  • Take ownership of major infrastructure domains or services
  • Help define and standardize DevOps processes across teams

Within 12 Months, You Will

  • Own and evolve SkySafe’s infrastructure architecture for scalability and compliance
  • Lead major infrastructure initiatives supporting product and organizational growth
