About the Role
SkySafe is seeking a highly motivated Infrastructure Operations Specialist to join our team in San Diego, CA. This role is critical to the successful deployment, maintenance, and ongoing operation of SkySafe’s sensor infrastructure in the field. The position exists to ensure that hardware installations are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. As an Infrastructure Operations Specialist, you will lead and support hands-on deployment efforts, maintain RF and telecommunications equipment, and continuously improve installation procedures. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners, often in challenging environments, to ensure SkySafe’s detection systems perform reliably and meet operational expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and prepare equipment for new sensor deployments
- Maintain, inspect, and improve currently operating sensor infrastructure
- Develop, refine, and document procedures for deployment and installation operations
- Create clear documentation and how-to materials for installation and maintenance processes
- Communicate instructions, timelines, and operational expectations to internal and on-site team members
- Perform system installations, including hardware assembly and RF connections, on masts, rooftops, towers, and other infrastructure
- Conduct rooftop, tower, and climbing work while adhering to all safety standards and guidelines
- Lift, haul, and position heavy equipment at installation sites
- Create cable penetrations, pull cable, and troubleshoot electrical and network connections
- Troubleshoot unexpected installation issues using creative problem-solving and effective communication with internal teams and external partners
- Represent SkySafe professionally and maintain strong working relationships with customers, partners, and site stakeholders
- Support R&D engineering efforts with field deployments, testing, and feedback as requested
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, wear appropriate PPE, and ensure safety guidelines are followed by all team membersServe as a subject matter expert for infrastructure operations and deployment best practices
- Complete all required documentation, training, and compliance activitiesPerform Part 107 drone operations in accordance with all FAA guidelinesMaintain the FAA Drone Zone Database
- 4+ years of experience in a field technician lead, infrastructure operations, or manufacturing lead role
- Bachelor’s or Associate degree preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn, troubleshoot, and explain equipment setup and operation
- Experience with outdoor RF, telecommunications, networking, or similar technical equipment preferred
- Excellent attention to detail with a strong focus on quality and safety
- Ability and willingness to work at heights and in varied outdoor environments
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
- Experience working in technology-related industries preferred
- Willingness to travel 50–75%
- Eligibility to access technology, materials, software, or hardware controlled by U.S. export laws (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible for U.S. Government export license approval)
- Certifications or willingness to obtain certifications in MEWP, tower climbing, rigging, or related work environments (SkySafe will fund required certifications)
- Prior experience with large-scale sensor deployments or infrastructure rolloutsFamiliarity with safety compliance programs and field operations best practices
- Experience supporting R&D or pilot deployments in the field
- Complete onboarding and safety training, including SkySafe deployment standards and procedures
- Become familiar with SkySafe’s sensor hardware, tools, and installation workflows
- Assist with deployments and maintenance activities alongside experienced team members
- Independently support and execute infrastructure deployments and maintenance tasks
- Contribute to improving installation procedures and operational documentation
- Serve as a reliable on-site resource for troubleshooting deployment issues
- Own key aspects of infrastructure operations for assigned projects or regions
- Act as a subject matter expert for deployment best practices and safety standards
- Support R&D and new product testing efforts in field environments
- Lead complex deployments and infrastructure upgrades across multiple sites
- Mentor other team members on installation techniques, safety, and operational standards
- Play a key role in shaping SkySafe’s long-term infrastructure and deployment strategy

Compensation range $80,000 – $100,000
Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry. Salary is just one part of our total compensation package that includes equity, perks & benefits, and development opportunities at SkySafe. Individual pay decisions are based on several factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, geography, and balancing internal equity relative to other SkySafers.
