Position Summary:

The Director, Amazon will lead the strategy and P&L for Prose, in support of the overarching 3P (Seller Central) Amazon strategy. This individual will be responsible for developing, managing, and optimizing Amazon advertising campaigns, driving growth across product listings, and expanding our presence on the Amazon marketplace. This role will also focus on creating the best brand and customer experience on Amazon while driving sales and conversion.

The Director, Amazon will manage the complete customer journey and all aspects of marketing and sales, including Amazon marketing (both on and off platform), affiliate marketing, paid media (agency management), platform merchandising, daily operations, ASIN management, PDP pages, and customer service strategy. The role will also manage these functions in partnership with our Amazon agency partner, and ensure that the agency is executing on the business and brand strategy for Amazon. The ideal candidate has a strategic mindset, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and possesses a deep understanding of Amazon’s ecosystem, including paid media and retail operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Amazon strategy, day-to-day operations and optimization of direct revenue driving, including Amazon Marketing (both on and off platform), Paid Search, Paid Social, ASIN management, Influencer, Subscribe + Save, etc.
  • Develop and manage brand calendar: plan marketing activities, new product launches, content and promotions, ASIN content, PDP pages, reviews, etc.
  • Partner with 3P Amazon Agency in the creation of full funnel Amazon marketing strategy. Manage agency ongoing to maximize TACOS, ACOS, performance of Search, Shopping, Social, Display and SEO
  • Carefully manage the Amazon financials and financial profile, with considerations of Amazon fees, pricing, margins, ACOS/TACOS as a % of Net Sales, and work with Finance dept to ensure Amazon is an accretive (or strategically invested) channel
  • Strategize ways to improve Amazon marketing & relevancy by identifying key areas of opportunity to optimize KPI’s to drive engagement and conversion
  • Find opportunities to test and optimize Amazon performance –i.e. creative, copy, time of day, segmentation A/B testing, pricing, etc.
  • Collaborate with internal brand team and external freelance Creative for all content development (copy/photography/stills/video assets) that is on brand and optimal for Amazon performance
  • Oversee 3P Amazon agency for brand development and digital projects, ongoing site maintenance for ASIN development and Content/Creative
  • Monitor and resolve technical issues with Amazon, claim/case submission, and supporting Amazon tools
  • Responsible for working with the agency for site merchandising, orders and inventory management
  • Perform regular audits of Amazon content to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and relevancy for all ASINS
  • Responsible for daily, weekly, monthly Sell Central reporting and analysis. Deliver key insights and recommendations to brand Exec Team that will drive performance
  • Routinely monitor competitor Amazon marketing (both on and off platform) and programming to stay on top of industry and channel trends. Be the internal Amazon expert for the company
  • Manage Amazon Customer Service issues with agency + internal team (returns, complaints, etc), swiftly resolve issues, and provide a consistent and best-in-class Amazon experience for customers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years of total experience, 7+ years of Amazon and online marketing experience
  • Ability to effectively manage an outsourced agency
  • Strong knowledge and experience managing all Amazon marketing channels
  • Analytical mindset with experience using Amazon reporting tools and dashboards to track KPIs and optimize performance.
  • Subscription, Beauty, Consumer Goods or Fashion DTC ecommerce experience strongly desired
  • Self-starter who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and a proactive problem solver
  • Strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate across teams
  • Experience in launching new brands on Amazon as well as scaling more mature brands
  • Strong collaboration skills with experience working cross-functionally across different teams

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $175,000 to $190,000 annually (+10% discretionary bonus and equity). Actual compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skills. This role will be a hybrid position based out of our Williamsburg office and the expectation is that this person will be in the office 3 days per week.
