We're growing fast and expanding product and revenue lines. We’re looking for a hands-on yet strategic Controller to lead our accounting function, support financial infrastructure at scale, and serve as a key partner to the SVP as we move toward investor-grade financial operations.
What You’ll Do
Own and Scale Core Accounting
Lead all accounting operations: GL, revenue recognition, AP/AR, payroll, consolidations, and equity accounting.
Drive timely and accurate monthly closes and prepare internal and external financial statements under US GAAP.
Oversee complex fintech accounting streams, including interchange, deposit interest, SaaS fees, and lending.
Design and maintain internal controls for external audits and eventual SOX compliance.
Build Scalable Infrastructure
Own and improve our accounting systems; manage third-party integrations
Partner with Product and Engineering to automate financial workflows — including revenue data pipelines, ledger mapping, and reconciliations.
Ensure audit-traceable processes for high-volume, tech-driven financial data.
Finance Business Partnering
Work closely with FP&A to align financial reporting with operating metrics and forecasts.
Support board and investor reporting — including gross margin tracking, cost structure analysis, and scenario planning.
Lead technical accounting memos for complex arrangements, such as embedded finance, multi-entity structures, or vendor contracts.
Compliance and Audit
Lead external audits and coordinate with tax, legal, and compliance teams on filings and regulatory requirements.
Prepare for future SOX and public company standards (as applicable).
Stay current on evolving fintech regulation and accounting treatments (e.g., ASC 606, Fair value etc.).
What You’ll Bring
-
10–15 years of accounting/finance experience, including:
Public accounting background (Big 4 strongly preferred)
Leadership in a high-growth fintech or payments company, ideally Series B-D stage
Strong familiarity with product-linked revenue (interchange, lending, deposits, fees)
CPA required; deep knowledge of US GAAP and fintech-relevant standards
Proven success building accounting teams, processes, and systems in a scale-up environment
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence senior stakeholders
Systems-oriented: experience with NetSuite, Looker, Ramp, Stripe, Mercury, or similar tools
Comfort navigating uncertainty in fast-moving product-led environments
Nice to Have
Experience with multi-entity consolidation and international expansion
Exposure to SOX, IPO readiness, or public company audit cycles
Compensation:
$200,000 - $240,000
