Role Description

The Director of Retail Sales will join our team and focus on managing ByHeart’s retail accounts. The Director of Sales will be goal-oriented and will be diligent in overcoming obstacles that impact annual sales goals.

Reports To: Senior Director of Sales & Category

Location: Remote

Start Date: ASAP


  • Achieve distribution, pricing, promotion, and shelving objectives
  • Develop relationships with new retailers and continue strengthening relationships with existing retailers
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders at retail accounts
  • Lead and inspire broker partners as an extension of our team
  • Work closely with Director of Strategy & Operations to manage sales forecast and spend, optimizing trade and shopper spend
  • Inform internal team of competitive intel and upcoming changes in retail
  • Work with the customer acquisition team (customers in this case meaning parents!) and brand team on ways to use internal marketing tools and data to grow the retail business. For example – how to use store level insights and ad targeting to drive growth in specific stores in specific zip code
  • Develop strategies for how to most effectively allocate retail marketing & trade spend and then analyze marketing performance data to optimize marketing mix


  • 8+ years consumer packaged goods experience including Sales and/or Category Management
  • Strong and validated leadership and negotiation skills
  • Broker management experience is required
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional leadership
  • Background in Marketing strongly preferred
  • Highly focused on the retailer relationship, with ability to build and maintain
  • Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Highly organized with a strong process orientation and attention to detail
  • Willingness to travel up to 40%, depending on location

The minimum annual salary for this position is $160,000 and the maximum is $185,000. The salary range for performing this role outside of New York City will differ. Additionally, you will be eligible for a discretionary performance based annual cash bonus and to participate in our company’s equity program, plus our robust medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other benefits.
