We are looking for a Director of Design to lead all facets of our product design team, helping us to develop and execute our product vision. You’ll be setting and executing our user experience strategy, partnering with teams around the organization such as Product, Engineering, and Marketing in order to make this vision come to life. Responsibilities:

Design Strategy and Execution:

• Develop and refine the user experience strategy, ensuring it aligns with Novo’s business objectives and user needs
• Oversee the creation and execution of design workflows, interactions, and user research activities
• Plan and execute usability research sessions to validate design choices and gather user feedback
• Stay abreast of the latest design trends, tools, and methodologies to continually enhance Novo’s design practices
• Present design concepts, strategies, and progress reports to executive leadership, ensuring transparency and alignment
• Guide the strategy for conducting deep user research to understand customer needs and behaviors

Design Leadership and Team Development:

• Actively participate in the recruitment process to build a robust team of product designers
• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with team members for mentorship and coaching
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the design team
• Set and monitor key performance indicators (OKRs/KPIs) for the design team to track progress and impact
• Adjust strategies and objectives based on data insights and team performance
• Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to inform product design decisions and strategies
• Oversee the development of user flows, wireframes, and prototypes to facilitate ideation and validation processes
• Review and provide constructive feedback on design deliverables to ensure they meet Novo’s standards and user expectations
• Encourage innovation within the team, promoting experimentation with new design concepts and technologies

Collaboration and Cross- Functional Partnership:

• Regularly communicate with stakeholders across the company to align design objectives with business goals
• Lead cross-functional team meetings with Product and Engineering to drive the delivery of user-centric product and service solutions
• Engage in daily collaborations with creative, marketing, product, and engineering teams to ensure design consistency and alignment with company goals

Requirements:

• 6+ years of experience in leading and scaling high performing design teams within the tech industry
• Your portfolio should reflect a history of strategic design leadership, balancing the demands of engineering and product development without compromising design excellence
• Strategic thinker
• Attention to detail and a passion for the minutiae that elevate design
• Proven experience in crafting and communicating compelling design visions and strategies, inspiring teams to bring these visions to fruition effectively
• A strong user centric philosophy in product design, underpinned by extensive experience with both qualitative and quantitative research methods
• Ensuring that product decisions are always driven by user insights and data
